    Description

    Antique Drilled Muscle Shell pieces & Mother of Pearl Buttons made this way. The Muscle shell pieces were dug as you see them along with the non holed buttons.
    The included bag of Mother-of-pearl buttons are from the 1800's through the 1940's & probably contains a couple hundred buttons.
    Here along the TN River I remember the scows dragging the river bottom for TN River Muscles. The meat was then cut out, the shells dumped into a large wooden box which was shipped to Japan for the button cutting. Then the buttons were shipped back to the US & sold for less than we could make them here.
