DESCRIPTION & CONDITION
Up for bid is a beautiful, gently used mid century modern ceramic coffee/tea pot or carafe made by Vernon Kilns, California.
In 1931, Faye Bennison purchased Poxton Pottery and China Co. and renamed the company Vernon Kilns.
Vernon Kilns was located in Vernon California from the 1931 to 1950s.
This hard to find pot with it's hand painted, underglaze Gingham pattern and what appears to be a
Bakelite
handle is in great original vintage condition. I believe this pattern came out in 1949.
Besides needing a
thorough
cleaning and a couple of very small handling scratches on the handles copper brace (photo #4), everything else is just perfect. No chips, cracks or crazing, just wonderful age patina and scratches are only noticeable when magnified for photos at very close range. A truly classic design that will look great in your set or collection.
