    Melanesian, South Pacific (Trobriand) Hand Carved Wooden Stone Fish Sculpture. Hand carved from tropical wood with inlayed mother-of-pearl accent disks, and tribal markings. Folklore cultural art of the "Stone Fish God" (most poisonous fish in the world) of the south seas island people. This item measures approximately: 3.25" inches - Wide (edge to edge). 4 5/8" inches - Tall (top to bottom). 9.75" inches - Depth (front to back). Weighs: 1 lb 6 oz. Condition: Generally good. Noted damage in the form of four inset MOP decorative accent disks are misisng. Otherwise in good shape. Study all images closely. Replacement MOP disks are available at some craft stores, but I've noted they tend to be somewhat pricey for the higher quality pieces. True age, artist, and origin unknown. SOLD AS IS.
