    GENUINE TRADITIONAL TROBRIAND, SOLOMON ISLANDS HANDMADE CARVED WOOD BOWL OR DISH. Pedestal foot. Low profile. Lovely carved tribal design on top surface. Nice wood grain. Measures approximately 10.5" inches long by about 6" inches wide. Only about 1.25" inches high. Shallow basin. Carved from local tropical wood, unknown species. Age and maker unknown but thought to be made for native use and not tourist trade. Condition: Good with two areas of concern in the form of chips on one end point and the underside of another end point. A unique shape. Whether intended or not, the shape of the dish is in the form of a stylized shark, skate, or sting ray egg pouch (also known as a Mermaid's Purse). Sold as is. Free shipping within the USA.
